What a tree service call actually involves

Most people call us because something changed. A storm took a limb down, an oak that looked fine last summer is dropping bark, or a maple planted too close to the house has finally reached the roofline. The job starts the same way every time: someone from our crew walks the property and looks at the lean, the root flare, the condition of the wood, and what sits underneath it.

That last part decides most of the work. A tree in an open back lot can often be felled in one piece. The same tree ten feet from a garage, a fence or a power drop has to come down in sections, rigged and lowered piece by piece. On tight lots in Edina, Wayzata and Minnetonka we often bring in a crane, which is faster and puts far less weight and foot traffic across your lawn than dragging brush out by hand.

Trimming is a different discipline. Good pruning takes out deadwood, corrects structural defects and opens the canopy without stripping the tree. Topping, cutting the crown back to stubs, is not pruning. It forces weak regrowth, invites decay and shortens the life of the tree, and we will not do it.

Every job ends the same way. Brush gets chipped, logs get hauled or stacked wherever you want them, and the work area is raked and blown before we pull out. If you want the stump gone, we grind it below grade and either leave the chips as backfill or take them with us.

Why homeowners hire us for the tree work

Licensed, bonded and insured
We can hand you a certificate of insurance before a saw comes off the truck. Your home, your neighbor's property and our crew are all covered.
The right machine for your lot
Crane, bucket, mini skid or straight climbing gear. What shows up depends on your yard and the tree, not on what is easiest for us.
Cleanup you can walk on
Chips cleared, ruts avoided, logs stacked where you ask. Apart from the missing tree, you should not be able to tell we were there.

Where We Work

Proudly Serving Minneapolis & the West Metro

Local crews and local knowledge. Tree removal, trimming, stump grinding, and emergency service across these Twin Cities communities.

When to schedule, and when to wait

Minnesota gives you a real calendar for tree work. Timing a job right saves your lawn, protects your oaks and usually costs less.

WinterDec to Mar
The best window for big pruning and removals. Trees are dormant, the ground is frozen, and heavy equipment crosses your yard without leaving a mark. It is also our quietest season, so scheduling is easier.
SpringApr to May
Fine for removals, storm cleanup and most trimming. Leave your oaks alone. Oak wilt spreads actively from April through July in Minnesota, and a fresh cut is an open invitation.
SummerJun to Aug
Hazard work, storm response and clearance pruning away from the house and roofline. Still no oak pruning until the risk period closes.
FallSep to Nov
Oaks are safe to prune again. This is the window to take out anything you do not want carrying snow and ice load through the winter.

Storm damage? Call, do not climb.

We run 24 hour emergency response across the west metro. Split trunks, limbs on a roof, and trees leaning against a structure get moved to the front of the schedule.

If any part of the tree is touching a power line, stay well clear and report it to Xcel Energy first. We cannot work a wire contact until it is de-energized.
