How the instant estimate works
Four short steps from your phone or computer. Nobody has to visit your property first.
- 1
Add 1 to 3 photos
Stand back far enough to fit the whole tree in the frame, plus whatever sits near it: the house, a fence, power lines. JPG, PNG and iPhone HEIC photos all work.
- 2
Answer a few questions
Roughly how tall the tree is, how close it stands to a building, whether power lines run nearby and whether a truck can get within about 50 feet. Our AI checks your answers against the photos.
- 3
Tell us where it is
Your name, phone, email and the address of the property, so an estimator knows who to contact and where the tree stands.
- 4
See your price range
Your estimated removal cost appears on screen right away. An estimator then reaches out within one business day to schedule a free on-site estimate.
What changes the price of a tree removal
Two trees of the same height can be very different jobs. These are the things the tool asks about and why each one matters.
Tree height
Taller trees take more climbing, more cuts and more wood to haul away. A two-story house is about 25 feet tall, which makes a handy yardstick when you are guessing.
Distance to buildings
A tree in an open yard is the simplest case. One within falling distance of a house or garage has to be rigged and lowered with care, and one hanging over a roof comes down in sections, sometimes with a crane.
Power lines
Lines near the tree mean added safety measures and slower, more deliberate work.
Equipment access
If a truck cannot get within about 50 feet, as with a fenced backyard or a tight side yard, more of the job is done by hand.
Tree condition
Dead, rotting or storm-damaged wood is unpredictable, so the crew takes extra care with it. A healthy tree is the more predictable job.
Stump grinding
Grinding is priced by the stump’s diameter in inches, measured across the widest part at ground level. You can also add hauling away the grindings.
Already down? A tree that has fallen usually costs less to remove than one still standing. Choose “Fallen / on the ground” in the tool.
For typical price ranges, see our tree removal pricing guide, or read more about our tree removal and stump grinding services.
A starting point, not a final quote
The number you see is a range. It is meant to give you a realistic idea of cost before anyone visits. One of our estimators then comes out to your property and gives you an official estimate, free of charge.
Some things do not show up fully in photos. Wood condition and the way equipment will reach the tree can move the final price up or down.

Instant estimate questions
Is the instant estimate free?
Yes. The instant estimate costs nothing, and neither does the official on-site estimate that follows it.
How accurate is the instant estimate?
It gives you a price range based on your photos and answers, so you know roughly what to expect. It is not a final quote. An estimator confirms the price in person, and details like wood condition and equipment access can adjust it up or down.
What photos should I take?
One to three photos is enough. Stand far enough back to fit the whole tree, and include anything close to it, such as the house, a fence or power lines.
What happens after I get my estimate?
An estimator reaches out within one business day to schedule your free on-site estimate. If you need it sooner, call or text 612-501-0602.
Can I get an estimate for a tree that has already fallen?
Yes. Choose “Fallen / on the ground” in the tool. If a tree has landed on your house or is blocking your driveway, call 612-501-0602 instead. We take emergency tree removal calls 24/7.
Does the estimate include stump grinding?
It can. Pick “Grind the stump” or “Grind + haul away debris” and enter the stump’s diameter in inches. A rough guess is fine.
Does the tool work for tree trimming or several trees?
The instant estimate is built for removing one tree at a time. For trimming, pruning, lot clearing or several trees at once, request a free estimate or call or text 612-501-0602.
What if my address is outside the service area?
The tool prices addresses within about 20 miles of Minnetonka. If you are near the edge or think it has your location wrong, call or text 612-501-0602 and we will take a look.
